I wanted to express my gratitude of thanks for the care and support that you gave to my god-father. Over the last few years he was most fortunate to be in your care and all of you including the chef with wonderful cooking made a lovely and loving home for him. You are a wonderful team and you all do an amazing job.
I had been in hospital for several weeks before I was transferred to Glebe House. Here I have received excellent care and attention. You have washed, cleansed, freshened me daily and supported me in my emotional times of need. You have kept me fit and healthy and have been attentive to my every need. I cannot thank you enough for the care and attention that you have given me, which to my mind extends beyond that which I could have reasonably expected. You are without exception, a team which goes beyond expectation, for which I cannot thank you enough.
Our lovely Mum arrived at Hailsham House in early November for respite, but it quickly became apparent that she needed end of life care. From the moment the Manager visited Mum at home to assess her, we knew that she was going to be in safe hands. It was a difficult time for me and my siblings and also for Mum who had lived completely independently up until her admission.
Mum was treated with kindness, respect and love. Initially, she enjoyed going into the lounge and even outside. Becoming increasingly tired and weak, she stayed in her room. She was never lonely however. Staff were constantly popping by to check-in, she had her hair done, her nails painted, was beautifully dressed and always in her chair. Despite the rise of Omicron, we were able to visit daily, (having undertaken a lft) and although all staff wore masks, their smiles and empathy were palpable. Mum died peacefully 3 weeks later in her sleep, with her hand being held. She (and we) experienced the best care possible.
Staff accompanying my Dad to a medical appointment in Edinburgh couldn’t have been nicer with him. He was cheerful and sociable throughout, glad to meet up with family members – it was like a jolly outing for him!
But this has been our experience of Aaron House – staff appear to be genuinely fond of Dad, he seems to have been well entertained throughout the Covid years and appears to be happy. The care home always strikes me as a lively place with staff organising activities, not leaving residents to sit and fester. Since going into Aaron (initially with my Mum who has since passed away) he has gained weight (they seem to feed him well!) and is no longer the gaunt, isolated figure he used to be when he and Mum were struggling to go on living at home.
My brother and I are very grateful for the enthusiastic care Aaron House has shown for our Dad (and previously for Mum) since he moved in three years ago.
Based on my experience over the last two years, I would not hesitate in recommending Westbank to anyone. It is a first-class home. All the staff, not just the carers, will chat with the residents to make their stay enjoyable.
Kindness runs through all of their veins. The home is all on the ground floor which is excellent for residents to get about and all the bedrooms have great views of the garden and wildlife which is ideal for those confined to their beds.
The cleanliness of the building is very good and the residents are always well turned out too, with their own clean clothes. The residents are encouraged to take part in a daily programme of activities which is excellent for both their physical and mental well-being.
An important advantage that Westbank has over some homes is its ability to switch from a care home to a nursing home. I experienced this first hand recently when my mum was very ill.
The state registered nurses at Westbank were fantastic offering 24-hour care that seems impossible to get if the resident goes to hospital instead.
Yesterday was the first anniversary since Mum moved into Westbank Care Home and I just wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to all the staff who have helped care for her over the past year. Mum arrived at Westbank with an acute infection in the spine caused by a very large stage four bedsore.
The hospital told the home that the wound had little chance of ever healing. Mum was extremely frail when she arrived at Westbank, having spent two months in hospital where she ate and drank very little and had become virtually non-verbal. On arrival at Westbank, she was very anxious.
Because of the meticulous care that staff at Westbank have provided, Mum’s spine is no longer infected, and the bedsore has healed a great deal. She is eating and drinking well, and her anxiety has significantly reduced.
I was incredibly worried about how going into a home would affect Mum, because of her mental health issues, but thanks to the wonderful staff at Westbank she is comfortable, stable and calm.
Wanted to say a big thank you to The Oaks Care Home. Couldn’t have asked for a better team to look after my grandad. Every member of staff from nurses, carers and housekeepers to kitchen etc were kind, caring and always welcoming.
The manager always had time for a chat and any questions we had were always answered. Thanks once again, you’re all amazing.
From the start we were made very welcome, it is not a bit like a medical establishment but more like visiting a good friend’s home. The resident’s every need is catered for with love, respect and dignity.
The meals are well presented with a good variety and choice. Residents are encouraged to join in stimulating activities, entertainers are invited and also animals visit. They celebrate special occasions and have lots of little treats.
They also enquire about the well-being of their visitors. Would be hard to find anywhere better. We are truly blessed.
Such a nice team at Buxton Lodge Care Home from management to care in the room with my Mum. We like it that nothing is too much trouble and we can always have a conversation about things we need to know or do is never any hassle.
Would recommend Buxton Lodge to anyone considering such care for their loved one, the whole team are committed and friendly.
Buxton Lodge Care Home is a lovely home full of helpful and friendly staff. The room is very nice and is located in a quiet spot with the right amount of attention. My Mum in Law’s appetite has certainly increased since she moved in thanks to the lovely food.
The management and staff are very attentive. They listen to our requests concerning my mum’s individual needs and react accordingly. My mum is very happy with the care she is receiving and always comments on how nice the meals are. The manager responds to any email questions or requests very promptly, which is a very helpful extra communication line to have.
The nurse is also available to discuss any particular issue whenever needed. All the staff are kind and friendly and have taken the time to get to know Mum – thank you all.
Overall, a hugely positive experience (as always) and my aunt appears to be extremely happy and comments on all of the activities she is engaged in and the fact that anything she requires is provided to her. All of the staff go out of their way in caring for my aunt and I couldn’t ask for more.
The ability to use the outdoor area when weather permits is a fantastic bonus and my aunt loves spending time there. The inter-generational music and external shopping trips also add a lot to the experience and quality of life there for my aunt.
The willingness to customise care needs based on the individual is also welcomed and is helping my aunt to operate to her full potential.
Kettlewell House is providing exemplary service to my father who is struggling with dementia. Nothing is too much trouble; the care is amazing and the staff are wonderful. Credit goes to the manager for creating and nurturing a loving environment which can only be best described as ‘home from home’.
I can honestly say that I don’t worry about Dad as I know he is being well cared for – this is a real blessing to myself and the family. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Kettlewell to anyone looking to provide care for an elderly friend or relative.
The home is very welcoming, and the care and love shown is abundant. Nothing seems to be of too much trouble I cannot speak highly enough and am so very happy that Hailsham House Care Home was chosen for the care of my husband.
My mother was admitted in July 2022 and died in November 2022.
We feel she was in the best place for the few months that she was in their care. I could not have been more pleased with the care she got at Hailsham House. The staff were exceptional, and all involved in her care were wonderful to her.
Always showing their best to her. I am sure it wasn’t easy as my mother was not necessarily an easy person to get on. It was reassuring to have such outstanding staff that continuously smiled and went out of their way to be helpful to her.
I am eternally grateful to Hailsham House for making her last days comfortable. What more could be asked for?
Aurem Care homes are all about people caring about people, we believe our care homes should be happy homes for loved ones.
