Caterham care home rated ‘Good’ in all areas by the Care Quality Commission

Colleagues at Aurem’s Glebe House care home in Caterham are celebrating following a positive result in their latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.

The inspection, carried out on 5 May 2026 and published on 3 June, rated the home as ‘Good’ across all five key areas: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

The report highlighted the consistently high standard of person-centred care delivered at Glebe House, with inspectors noting:

“People told us staff were kind and they understood them as an individual, supported them to make their own choices and promoted their independence.”

“The provider planned and delivered people’s care and treatment with them, including what was important and mattered to them.”

Dining at Glebe House was also praised, reflecting the home’s commitment to quality and resident wellbeing. The kitchen is led by Chef Steve, who has been part of the team for over 10 years and previously worked in Paris for Meilleur Ouvrier de France and Jean Millet’s Patisserie. The report noted:

“People said they enjoyed the food on offer and that staff supported them to maintain their health.”

Strong leadership was another key theme of the report. Home Manager Sam Hadzisa, who has been part of Glebe House for over a decade, was recognised for her supportive leadership style and the high regard in which she is held by residents and their families. Inspectors found:

“The registered manager strove to provide a consistently good, high-quality service to people and people and relatives spoke highly of her.”

The report also included heartfelt feedback from a relative, who shared:

“[Registered manager] would have a chat with mum after she visited dad as she knew she was upset. She also rang mum a couple of times after dad died to see how she was. The experience was positive and he was definitely in the right place.”

Sam Hadzisa, Home Manager at Glebe House, said:

“We’re absolutely delighted with the results of our latest CQC inspection. It reflects the dedication, compassion and hard work of our entire team, who go above and beyond every day to make Glebe House a truly special place for our residents to live and our colleagues to work.”
