Halloween fun and live theatre bring smiles to Caterham care home

Residents at Buxton Lodge care home in Caterham, Surrey, have enjoyed a packed programme of entertainment, creativity and celebrations, including a Halloween party, a visit from a theatre group and a relaxing craft session.

The care home, operated by Aurem Care, welcomed friends and family for a Halloween celebration featuring spooky-themed food, music, dancing and plenty of laughter.

Staff pulled out all the stops to create a Halloween feast, while a visiting DJ provided the music and encouraged residents and visitors to take to the dance floor.

One of the highlights was a lively dance-off between two residents to the Halloween classic Monster Mash, much to the delight of everyone watching.

The party was a real family affair, with visitors of all ages joining in the celebrations. Young Brooklyn, the grandson of one of the visitors, was particularly enthusiastic, saying: “I like the party. Love dancing!”

Another visitor thanked the team, saying: “What a great Halloween party. Thank you for inviting us.”

Resident Merit summed up the celebrations in just one word: “Perfect!”

Residents also enjoyed making their own lavender bags during a hands-on craft session.  Residents Steve and Brian were particularly enthusiastic about the session, describing it as “an amazing activity”.

The home also welcomed performers from Hidden Gems for a live theatre production which proved to be an emotional experience for some residents.

The performance featured singing and entertainment, with some of the songs moving audience members to tears. Resident Sue was full of praise, saying: “Hidden Gems was amazing.”

Gemma Daunt, Deputy Home Manager at Buxton Lodge, said: “We’ve had such a wonderful time at Buxton Lodge, with so many different activities bringing our residents, their families and our team together.
