Keith Turner joined Buxton Lodge in January 2016 as a part-time carer, bringing with him a dedication to providing compassionate care. Over the years, his commitment and skills have seen him rise through the ranks, becoming a Senior Carer in 2023 and stepping into the role of Care Team Leader in August 2024.
Buxton Lodge holds a special charm for Keith, with its quirky character and rich history. He is passionate about helping to create a relaxed and welcoming environment for both residents and staff, where teamwork is at the heart of everything. Keith acknowledges that, like any team, there are challenges, but believes in learning and growing together to continuously improve the quality of care provided.
For Keith, the most rewarding part of his role is building relationships with residents and their families. He values hearing from family members about how their loved ones have settled into life at Buxton Lodge, giving them peace of mind. Witnessing a resident’s progress from needing significant support to achieving greater independence is a testament to the exceptional care and teamwork that Keith leads.
Keith holds a Level 4 City and Guilds Diploma in Health and Social Care and a Level 3 qualification in End of Life Care. His journey into the care sector was inspired by a personal family trauma, which motivated him to make a difference in the lives of others. Prior to his career in care, Keith was a qualified prototype electronics engineer, a background that reflects his adaptability and diverse skill set.
Charlotte, the Wellbeing Coordinator at Buxton Lodge, has been a dedicated member of the team for seven years, transitioning from a career in hairdressing to pursue her passion for care. Within her first months at Buxton Lodge, she completed her NVQ 2 and Diploma 2, demonstrating her commitment to learning and growth.
Since stepping into the Wellbeing Coordinator role four months ago, Charlotte has introduced a variety of initiatives to enrich the lives of residents. Highlights include the Buxton Lullababy group, Coffee + Chat sessions, and daily exercise classes to support physical and mental well-being. She has also fostered a sense of community by organising events such as charity cake sales and setting up a Buxton Swap Book station to encourage interaction with the local community.
Charlotte is particularly proud of Buxton Lodge’s therapy dog, Barney, who provides comfort to residents, and the ongoing project to create a Buxton aquarium in the main lounge. Her focus on celebrating the diverse nationalities of residents ensures an inclusive and vibrant environment.
Passionate about enhancing well-being, Charlotte continues to make Buxton Lodge a place where residents feel valued, supported, and inspired to thrive.
Terri Felstead joined Buxton Lodge in September 2021, initially working as a carer during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic. Motivated by a desire to make a meaningful difference, Terri embraced the opportunity to help others, supported by the comprehensive training and encouragement provided at Buxton Lodge. Reflecting on her early days, she describes the joy of knowing she has brightened someone’s day as one of the most rewarding aspects of her role.
Around 18 months into her journey, Terri stepped in to provide cover in the kitchen and discovered an unexpected passion for cooking. Eager to learn and develop, she embraced the challenges of the culinary world and has since progressed to the role of Head Chef. Terri takes pride in creating person-centred menus, engaging with residents and their families to understand preferences and ensure mealtimes are both enjoyable and meaningful.
Terri’s commitment to excellence is evident in her professional development. She has achieved her Food Safety Level 2 certification and recently completed IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative) training, equipping her with the skills to provide tailored dining options for residents with specific needs.
For Terri, the kitchen at Buxton Lodge is more than just a workplace—it’s a hub of teamwork, camaraderie, and creativity. She values the collaborative spirit among the kitchen staff and the wider care team, especially during special events when everyone pulls together to create memorable experiences. Terri describes Buxton Lodge as her extended family and says she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Since joining Buxton Lodge, Fe has embraced various roles, including Health Care Assistant, kitchen support, and assisting with activities, giving her a well-rounded understanding of care home life. In her role as Housekeeping Supervisor, she oversees a dedicated team, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention, and safety.
