Residents at Buxton Lodge care home in Caterham saddled up for a day of Wild West fun, complete with cowboy-themed wanted posters, music, decorations and a very special cake.
Residents, relatives and staff at the Aurem Care home all got involved in the themed celebration, which transformed Buxton Lodge into its own corner of the Wild West.
One of the highlights was creating personalised wanted posters featuring the faces of residents and staff.
The posters proved such a hit that residents asked for their own versions to be displayed on their bedroom doors, bringing plenty of smiles and laughter to the home.
The Wild West theme continued throughout the day with decorations around the home and a spectacular cowboy hat-shaped cake.
Singer Ellie also joined the celebrations, entertaining residents with a selection of Wild West and country-inspired songs.
Resident Stephanie particularly enjoyed the musical element of the day, saying: “I love Wild West music. It was lovely listening to the songs and enjoying the day with everyone.”
Christine, a member of the Buxton Lodge team, said: “The decorations were amazing. Everyone has really embraced the theme and it has been wonderful seeing the residents having so much fun.”
Stephy Matthews, home manager at Buxton Lodge, said: “Our Wild West day was a fantastic opportunity to bring residents, families and colleagues together and create something a little different.
“The wanted posters were definitely one of the highlights. Our residents were so excited to see themselves on them that many wanted their posters displayed on their bedroom doors, which was lovely to see.
“There was a brilliant atmosphere throughout the home, from the decorations and cowboy hat cake to Ellie’s singing. Days like this encourage residents to get involved, spend time together and, most importantly, have fun.”
