Residents at Buxton Lodge care home in Caterham enjoyed an unforgettable wildlife encounter when the team from Mitchamzoo paid a special visit with an array of fascinating reptiles.
The interactive session gave residents the chance to get up close to Vlad, a striking Blood Python, along with two baby Ball Pythons, two adult Royal Pythons and two friendly Bearded Dragons.
The visit sparked plenty of conversation and smiles, with residents learning more about each species while enjoying the opportunity to gently handle the animals under expert supervision.
Resident Sue was among those who embraced the experience. She said: “I love snakes, but I really loved the bearded dragon they brought as an extra. I didn’t want to let it go!”
Stephy Mathews, home manager at Buxton Lodge Care Home, said: “Experiences like this are a wonderful way of bringing something different into the home, and this certainly was different! It was lovely to see so many residents engaging with the animals, asking questions and sharing stories of their own experiences with pets and wildlife. Animal visits provide fantastic sensory stimulation, encourage conversation and create lasting memories, and this was certainly one of those occasions.”
